Time to boast

Let me just show you something.

This here is my little reward for three hours of almost constant talking. But it was worth it. I think the people who attended liked it.

A job well done

Hello again after a very long period of silence.

The reason for this is unrealted to Wikimania, I'm afraid. However, I did have other reasons - University exams (three this week) and my job to attend to.

One exam gone (and passed, hopefully), two to go, but that's not really important right now. The important part of it all is that I've just finished... (drum roll) ... translating my first book ever. Sorry, that I'm not revealing its title right now, but I'm not really sure if I can. Still, I promise to give a more detailed account, as it was really a unique experience.

Nothing on on Wikimania, unfortunately.

When you teach your teachers

The tests are over and to be honest, I don't really care about the score. A fail's a fail, a pass is a pass, whatever will be, will be and there's nothing I can do about it now, once they're written (I'm feeling philosophical). I've got more important matters to attend to.

Tomorrow's the Big Day. The Wikiworkshop at the University of Gdańsk. I'm very, very nervous, and not really because I'll be teaching my teachers (some of whom are going to read this entry, I guess. Hello, nice to see you here). The importance of this workshop is paramount in two ways. One, it might pave an entirely new way for Wikimedia projects into Polish universities by proving that YES, it CAN be used by them in a multitude of ways as a secondary teaching method. And two, if we really want the Interwiki Night Live event at the Wikimania 2010 to be successful (and we do, don't we?), I have to do my best to show that this is a good idea. No epic fails this time.

Still, I believe it's going to work out all right. I can't really be sure, but I think that this could be the very first time editing Wikipedia as such is the core of an academic course. And when I get involved in something completely new and crazy, it usually goes according to plan.

And he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made...

Sometimes a man has just got too many things to do. Right now I've got:

a) a test in legal vocabulary on Thursday;
b) a test in general vocabulary on Friday;
c) a presentation on Wikipedia on Saturday.

The last item is very closely related to Wikimania 2010, which will be held in July in Gdańsk. All of us - i.e. the people in charge here in Gdańsk who are to make sure that everything goes according to plan - are now working hard to get the legal and organizational details sorted out. Areas of responsibility need to be divided, the precise legal status of the entity in charge needs to be decided upon. We hope to have the theoretical part of this sorted out before the weekend so that the following week may be devoted to the practical application of whatever we choose to apply.

And by the way, there's a good chance that we'll send someone to Buenos Aires for this year's Wikimania.We hope that this person will be able to get some Argentinean know-how for us.

I'll do my best to keep you updated.
